Who I am

This website, bybonita.co.uk, is run by Bonita, the writer of By Bonita. If you have a question about your privacy, email bonitaspurr.bs@gmail.com.

What this website collects

There are no forms, no accounts and no comments on this website, so I don’t ask you for any personal details here.

I use Google Analytics only to see anonymous statistics about how the site is used, so I can improve it. For example:

• how many people visit and which pages or rooms they open
• roughly which country or city visits come from
• the type of device and browser used
• which website or app sent the visit (for example Substack or TikTok)

Google Analytics sets small files called cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell one visit from another. I don’t use the statistics to identify you, and I can’t see who you are.

No advertising. I don’t use these statistics for adverts, I don’t sell or share them for marketing, and Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off.

The site also remembers, just for your current visit, whether you turned the music on or off. This is stored in your browser and is not sent to anyone.

How to say no

You can object to the statistics at any time, free of charge. Any of these works:

• use the button below to turn analytics off on this device and browser
• install Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
• block or delete cookies in your browser settings

Subscribing and reading on Substack

My stories are published on Substack. If you subscribe, comment or pay there, Substack handles your details under its own privacy policy: substack.com/privacy. Facebook and TikTok links take you to those sites, which have their own policies too.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what information is held about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Email bonitaspurr.bs@gmail.com. If you’re unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
